Before bug 848604 landed it was possible to add apps to Gaia builds as symbolic links. That is, it was possibl to do: cd apps; ln -s /whereverMyNewAppIs/myappDir .; cd ..; make profile for example, and I would get a myappDir.gaiamobile.org app included on the profile. After that bug landed, symbolic link directories aren't added to the build anymore. This was pretty handy to keep a shared directory between different builds when testing.
