User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 SeaMonkey/2.20 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130803200527 Steps to reproduce: Start SeaMonkey and download mail as usual into account with empty inbox and junk folders. Actual results: "Received x of x messages" in status bar indicated more messages received than came into account (39 vs. 37). The account has no filter rules, so all new messages should populate the inbox and/or junk folders. In this particular instance, the junk folder was empty and only the inbox had unread messages. Expected results: Total messages received as indicated in status bar should match total new messages populated to an account.
Do you have any filters running?
Excellent question, Phil. That completely escaped my attention at the time and, yes, I have 5 filters running on that account. If we assume that the status bar gives the total from the server, it stands to reason that any messages marked read and deleted would be - D'oh - AWOL.
