I have been unable to send mail or read newsgroups since Mozilla 0.9.1. In the main preferences window, the two topics below "Navigator" and above "Privacy and Security" are blank and although clicking on them reveals a pane with the radio buttons and text boxes present, the text relating to these is not present. Going to "File/New ->", the only items that are visible are "navigator window" and "blank page to edit". Although there is space for the other two options, they are blank. Clicking the "envelope" button at the bottom of the navigator window brings up the messenger window, but again, no text is present, my mail boxes are not labelled, and neither are the newsgroups, or any of the icons at the top of the window. The three menus between "View" and "Task" are blank as are several items in other menus. In the Inbox window, the Mozilla animation in the top right hand corner of the screen is continually active, even after pressing the "Stop" icon. Clicking on a mailto link or bringing up a new message window by clicking on the button results in another blank window. You can enter a To: address and a subject for the email, but cannot actually enter the text of the email and clicking on Send has no effect. Reprodibility: this always occurs on my Windows NT 4 Server machine (SP6a) but not on my Windows 95 machine at home. My Mozilla build is: 2001062815

Reporter: Please try it with a new profile. run "mozilla -profilemanager" and create a new profile. Have you installed a language pack/custom theme ? If yes : Delete all files in profile-dir/chrome That should fix your problem. BTW: You installed mozilla in a fresh directory ?

nothing to do with the mail database, I'm afraid. It sounds to me like either your mozilla installation is completely screwed up (hence all the blank text) and that perhaps you installed the browser without installing the mail/news component. I'd try installing again fresh.
Component: Mail Database → Mail Back End

> Please try it with a new profile. > run "mozilla -profilemanager" and create a new profile. Okay, I'll try this. > Have you installed a language pack/custom theme ? > If yes : Delete all files in profile-dir/chrome I have not done this. I just use the default Modern theme. > BTW: You installed mozilla in a fresh directory ? Yes. > nothing to do with the mail database, I'm afraid. Yes, this was just a guess. Bugzilla wouldn't let me leave the field blank, so I guessed.

Matti, Thanks, worked like a charm. Now, any idea if I can bring my stored passwords (unencrypted) to the new profile?

From 0.9.2 release notes : signons.tbl and signonsx.tbl (logins and passwords file store) If you copy this files from your old to your new profile, you should get your stored passwords back. verified

sorry - you are right. (This must be changed) I have a file in my profile with contains the password. This file have a random file name in different profiles. Filename= "8-digit#.s". Store a password with your new profile (a file ????????.s will generated). copy from your old profile the 8-digit#.s direct over that one in your new profile (rename the file from your old profile). If this does not work, than i don't know what to do
