Description

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130730113002

Steps to reproduce:

Using the touchpad of my ASUS N56VB series laptop, I tried to go to the previous page by swiping with three fingers to the left and to the next page by swiping to the right. This functionality works in both IE 10 and Chrome 28. I've updated the ASUS Smart Gesture driver to the latest version. Two-finger up and down scrolling does work, however.

Actual results:

Instead of going to the previous or next page, nothing happened.

Expected results:

I should have gone to the previous page when swiping with three fingers to the left, and I should have gone to the next page when swiping with three fingers to the right.

For clarity, by "going to the previous/next page" I mean back/forward navigation as implemented under the arrow buttons next to the address bar. See also https://support.mozilla.org/nl/questions/966756 for another person with the same problem (although I don't believe it's an Elan touchpad).

I have a Asus UX31A-R4005H with the same problem. I have installed the newest version of Asus Smart Gesture (1.1.3). The three finger gesture for going back or forward works both on Internet Explorer and Chrome. Not working on Firefox (23.0).

FYI, the latest version of the ASUS Smart Gesture driver is 2.0.1, but it doesn't solve the problem for me.

Sorry about that, that's the latest version for my laptop model (N56VB), for you it's still 1.1.3 indeed.

It doesn't solve the problem because it's something on firefox end. Probably there's nothing wrong with the driver.

Hi, using the elantech driver (http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Touchpad&p=3&os=30) this problem is avoided. I'm using Windows 8.1 and I've just installed the driver from the above site (Touchpad_Elantech_Win8_64_VER11591) and now firefox just works. Just remember to remove Asus Smart Gesture before installing this driver.

Note that Elantech Touchpad driver (at least version 10.5.9.0) has another bug: it occasionally generates the Left/Right keyboard events while scrolling with two-finger swipe gesture. This bug very annoying if a website uses ArrowLeft/ArrowRight keys themselves (like inoreader.com for example).

I'm using a UX32VD, and updating to Touchpad_Elantech_Win8_64_VER11591 worked for me. Two swipe gesture now works on firefox. The Asus site was down, so I downloaded it here: http://www.driversguru.com/driverfile-Touchpad_Elantech_Win8_64_VER11591.zip.html.

Had the same problem and found a fix. Turns out ASUS didnt include a trackpad profile for Firefox.
It is explained in this thread: http://www.transformerforums.com/forum/asus-transformer-book-t100-faqs-guides-tips/40328-t100-useful-tips-tricks-7.html

see comment #70

worked for me with no downsides! Only thing to note is u need admin priv to save the file over the original. Which for me didnt work directly from Notepad. I saved in my documents then manually placed the file back in the ASUS smart gestures folder. It then just gives a popup for you to confirm the action as administrator. Hope it works for y'all!
