Build ID: 20130329042733
Steps to reproduce:
Scheduled a start date for a weekly event for 4-weeks
Actual results:
Set end date, and start date changed to end date; set it to weekly repeat, showed up every day of all the weeks in the calendar
Expected results:
start date should have remained as initially entered, repeats should have showed up only on one day of week for stipulated weeks, 4.

Do you have enabled the 'keep duration' feature? To enable or disable the feature click the button with the chain link icon that is located right of start/end time field.
Start and end date/time define the duration of the master event that will repeat, e.g. an one hour meeting. In addition you can mark this event as repeating, e.g. to repeat the one hour meeting every week. If the event should not repeat forever choose Custom... in the repeat dropdown menu and fill in the number of repetitions or the until date.

Thanks very much -- what was throwing me was the difficulty in setting a time of duration for less than 1 hour, among other things.
I succeeded in that, and then in using the custom pulldown to limit the number of repetitions.
Not sure, but I believe that chain icon wasn't there in previous versions. And I could just have forgotten that, too.
Greatly appreciate the tutorial!
