Windows 98SE running (I have tried) the release of mozilla 0.9.2 and ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/nightly/latest-0.9.2/mozilla-win32-talkback.zip which is dated on the ftp server July 12th 2001. Following are my addressing settings (from prefs.js with ldap in them?) When I type compose and then start typing a persons name into the "To:" line all mozilla windows (navigator windows, mail windows, compose window) stop responding. Other windows apps continue working just fine, but if they are brought up with mozilla windows behind them and are then minimized the mozilla windows don't redraw. Even if I wait for 10 or 15 minutes it has never come back. I have to ctrl-alt-del and then kill the compose task (which makes all mozilla windows disapear). The talk back window doesn't even come up. wintop shows 0% cpu utilization related to mozilla apps. user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.directoryServer", "ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP"); user_pref("ldap_2.autoComplete.useDirectory", true); user_pref("ldap_2.prefs_migrated", true); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP.description", "UnitedMessagingLDAP"); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP.filename", "abook.mab"); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP.replication.lastChangeNumber", 0); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP.uri", "ldap://mirror3.ummail.com:389/o=unitedmessaging.com??sub?(objectclass=*)"); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.history.filename", "history.mab"); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.history.replication.lastChangeNumber", 0); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.pab.filename", "abook.mab"); user_pref("ldap_2.servers.pab.replication.lastChangeNumber", 0);

Still a problem in the latest nightlies?
Yep, downloaded the August 01, 2001 code (00:08am)(win98SE) Although When I type a single "A" into an address to line (and wait 2-3 secs) it pops up a whole list of names starting with A, then when I type "n" it hangs, using only 0.15% CPU, not eating up RAM, not sending network packets, doesn't crash. Just hangs and none of the Mozilla windows redraw or respond to minimize or maximize...

buappears on linux too: having entered a ldap server (which is used in the office, not-routable private address), and taking the laptop home, I can't compose mail because address autocompletion starts immediately when I enter a recipient and the whole of mozilla hangs while waiting for a response from the ldap server (which, obviously, will never arrive) maybe there should be a) a status bar UI with the possibility to cancel the lookup b) a fixed timeout change op_sys to "all" mg

Looks like some of this is related to Bug 91248 which has recently checked in I believe.

20011022 0.9.4 branch build on Wins NT. By using your LDAP server settings, typing "an" in addresee To: field, LDAP autocompletion box displayed with several matching entries. Two characters are minimum to search. If you type a single "A", autocompletion won't happen until the second character entered. It works for me with the following settings: Name: UnitedMessagingLDAP Hostname: mirror3.ummail.com Base DN: o=unitedmessaging.com

Note that you can change the minimum length of the string required to trigger an LDAP autocomplete by editing your prefs.js (while mozilla is not running). Add the following line to trigger LDAP autocomplete on strings of any size: user_pref("ldap_2.servers.UnitedMessagingLDAP.autoComplete.minStringLength", 0);

Verified with Netscape 6.2 windows build on NT. LDAP autocompletion works fine with the server settings provided above. If there's any more problem, you can reopen it later.
