Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130807125214

Steps to reproduce:

Looked in both Edit->Preferences and about:config trying to disable "Always show tab bar" so I could have more space to view pages.

Actual results:

I didn't find a way to disable "Always show tab bar".

Expected results:

I should have found a way to disable "Always show tab bar" in Edit->Preferences or at the very least in about:config. This option should be available in Edit->Preferences though because newer users don't know that about:config even exists let alone the fact that they'll probably be intimidated when using it.
This wasn't a problem in earlier versions of Firefox. I think this only started in version 23 though I don't know why this option was removed. When a user has only one tab open why can't they have some extra viewing room?
It was intentionally removed by the Firefox developers, that's why you can't find it.
