Mail Compose: Formatting Toolbar. Currently this toolbar has 15 items on it. It
makes the window look complicated and cluttered. It also makes the window
larger horizontally by default. I would like to see some of the less commonly
used formatting items removed from this toolbar to make it less overwhelming and
cleaner looking.
Users more often stick to basic text formatting, if any, while composing a mail
message. More complex formatting is most often used for full blow html
documents. The Formatting Toolbar should be limited to only the most basic and
commonly used items. Additional functionality is easily accessible from the
Formatting menu for when users want to add more involved formatting.
I would like to see removed: Indent In, Indent Out, and Text Alignment for
starters. Open to other suggestions.
combine bullet number list and indent outdent into a single thing?
any reason you killed the pop from smily?
fwiw i really like acrobat reader 5's toolbar system, but that won't happen
anytime soon (try it...).

I agree that indents aren't used very often, but I think text alignment is.
Also, why aren't the bullet list and numbered list buttons combined (a drop-down
menu would be used to select between the two - this would also make it easier to
add items such as lists with letters instead of numbers or Roman numerals).

I think this is wontfix. Even webmails usually have the alignments nowadays and we can't be worse than that if the user happens to want it.
