User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130807125118

Steps to reproduce:

Visit various websites including chase.com, my credit union account and this one I discovered today

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/08/21/2013-nfl-preview-division-by-division/2681081/

Actual results:

Most of the websites that I have problems with are financial accounts that cannot be accessed for bug reporting. The one above can be. The display frames are blank. Some of these are video links other are tables. These pages that do not render correctly using FF render successfully using IE and Safari.

Expected results:

If these webpages are HTML 5 compliant they should render as they do using other browswers

OS: 3.10.7-100.fc18.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Aug 15 22:21:29 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

FF: 23.0
Hi PJAL,

Does it work in Firefox if you start it in Safe mode, with add-ons disabled? That's important for us to be able to tell if it's a bug in Firefox or one that's essentially somewhere else. If you could check, that would be super helpful. Thanks!

When I restarted FF in safe mode and then accessed the link in the description as well as the link in comment #2 the reported problem went away. I disabled the add-on Karma Blocker and restarted FF normally with add-ons active. I was able to view both links as expected. However, I then tested two of my bank websites with the add-ons disabled I still did not get the proper display. On one bank site I received the error "unable to complete transaction" and the other I "session timed out" even though I was still logged in and could return to my home page. Since accessing the bank webpages require authentication you will not be able to test this. I would suggest keeping this bug open for me as well as others to report public access webpages that we may find that demonstrate this behavior

PJAL, The cmegroup link you give above doesn't seem to give me a working graphic in any browser I have tried. Can you give me something that is a definite path to reproduce the behavior you are reporting? A link to CME for example, with information on what to click to produce a chart or graphic of the sort you're saying is missing.

I attempted to paste in the full link to get to where the display was misbehaving. Since that did not work here is how to get there starting from the cme home page.

Bring up URL cmegroup.com then hover over the button "Products & Trading" menu. From the popup submenu select "Interest Rates" at the next display select "Euro Dollars" located in the column "Product Name", at this display select the "Quotes" which is just under "View Product" A data table should now be displayed. Under the "Charts" column select the small graph looking icon. A popup window will be displayed with a grid, scale and bar lines. Previously, before removing the add-on there was no grid, scale or bar lines.

OK, from here, http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/interest-rates/stir/eurodollar_quotes_globex.html#prodType=1YM I can click on a little "chart" icon and get a chart. Since this is working for you unless you have a specific plugin installed, I can't really see it as a Firefox bug.

For the issues specific to your banking sites, you may need to report them to those sites, or if you can describe the behavior more specifically, that may help. Otherwise, this won't have enough information to be a useful bug.
I propose that this bug is related to bug 905493 and therefore can reference it and then be closed.
This bug has nothing to do with bug 905493: that bug was about extensions performing location sets, whereas this bug is specifically about web page behavior in safe mode, and hence completely unrelated to extensions.
I have performed further testing regarding FF not rendering/accessing html that other browsers do. If I open the FF privacy setting and enable to always accept 3rd party cookies then one of the web pages that does not display correctly when this option is set to never does now work. But other pages that demonstrate the same behavior still do not.

In the case that does work with 3rd party cookies set to always, I previously had entered the URLs for the two 3rd party in the "exceptions." I have attached a screen capture. So I guess adding exceptions to the FF privacy preferences does not includes 3rd party URLs. This is confusing since when the Exceptions box is open it clearly states that adding URLs to this list grants cookie access. It does not say "except" 3rd party cookies.

In summary there appears to be more "broke" that previously thought. The cookie exception is either mislabelled or it does not work as expected. And, there are still webpages that will not display as they should but do with other browsers. I am still suspicious that this is due to iframes being loaded from the same folder level that I have demonstrated FF does not allow. Other browsers display these same webpages successfully.
This link is to another page that does not behave correctly using FF.

https://www.iaai.com/

Type in the search bar the name of an vehicle and then click to start the lookup. Nothing happens. This did work using FF 20? and before. It has not worked for a long time but does work with IE. The current version I tested this on is FF 26.
Is the initial reported issue still reproducing for you on Firefox 43?
The example with https://www.iaai.com/ from Comment 11 is bug 1049523, so we don't discuss it here.

I viewed the IAAI.com website using FF 43.0.3. The page rendered ok and probably has been for sometime. I would recommend closing this bug. It was most likely fixed in a previous FF release since I use IAAI.com one a week or so and have not noticed any problems except the search string issue that was reported on another bug. I would recommend closing this bug.

@Pjal, thank you for your prompt response.
Closing this based on Comment 13.
