As I noted in bug 260348 comment 30 (following up on a thread on css-d), bug 157681 changed our behavior so that bug 260348 is fixed when the RecomputePosition optimization is used, but not for the primary codepath. I think it's relatively important to fix the inconsistency; substantially more important than fixing bug 260348. Though fixing bug 260348 is one perfectly reasonable way to fix the inconsistency.
The other way to fix it would be to make RecomputePosition not work in that situation, right?
