Recently Fx has been showing a popup notification asking "Do you want to use media events for [site-name]" - where site-name includes youtube, pandora, etc.

I suspect most users will have no idea about what "media events" are (I certainly didn't), so will not know how to answer the question.  The popup notification should have enough information so the user can make an informed choice (presumably via a link in the panel that opens a page with more information).
