Attached file SCREEN SHOT FIREFOX 8.30.13.odt (obsolete) —
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130814063812 Steps to reproduce: I opened Firefox, where I have Google as my home page. I then opened Gmail to check my inbox. Actual results: Instead of opening in the same window as Google, it opened in a side bar on the left, I am unable to access this window to close it. It also is taking up screen space that I need to view what I want to view. If I reopen Gmail, it does open in the same window as Google. Expected results: The Gmail window should have opened in the same window as Google, not a separate one. I would appreciate any help I can get in resolving this issue as soon as possible. I have also contacted the manufacturer of my computer and Google about this. Thank you.
I can't view odt files so I can't see what you're talking about. Could you please attach a common image format file like a png, gif, or jpeg? Have you bookmarked Gmail? If so, it sounds like it may be configured to open in the sidebar. Open the bookmarks library as described here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-bookmarks-to-save-and-organize-websites#w_working-with-your-bookmarks-in-the-library-window Search for Gmail using the search box in the top-right corner of the Library window. If there are any resulting bookmarks, select them, and then in the lower pane of the Library window, click the down arrow at the bottom. You should see a checkbox called, "Load this bookmark in the sidebar." Uncheck it if it's checked.

Please use the PNG format for screenshots. Firefox can display PNG, PDF, JPEG, GIF, but not OpenDocument.

Summary: Display of two windows → Gmail opened in the sidebar ("Display of two windows")
Using "Firefox Setup Stub 24.0b3.exe" on Win7 64 bit Home Basic : Could not reproduce this problem. Checking and unchecking the "Load this bookmark in the sidebar" option in properties of bookmarked Gmail works fine.
