User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:23.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/23.0 (Beta/Release) Build ID: 20130814063812 Steps to reproduce: 1) Create a URL that contains a "!" character (Mega (at https://mega.co.nz/) file link URLs use them), 2) Create a new email message in Thunderbird, 3) Create a link in the message using the URL, 4) Save the message in the Drafts folder for later editing, 5) Re-edit the message and examine the link. Actual results: All occurrences in the link of "!" are changed to "%21". If the message is sent, the recipient will not be able to follow the link successfully because it is mangled. This may occur with other odd characters as well. Expected results: The link should not have been changed. Any valid URL, even those that contain odd characters, should be preserved and not altered by Thunderbird.
I had exactly the same problem as described with Thunderbird 17.0.8
