Navigating an encrypted website is causing constant animation within the address bar
On encrypted websites (e.g. addons.mozilla.org) we show a green or gray lock icon next to the favicon in the address bar, which gets added in with a nice animation shifting the page title to the right. So far so good. The problem with animation is that it can get quite annoying while navigating within that page (i.e. following links that are on the same domain) as the lock is constantly hidden/unhidden and subsequently the tab title shifted to the left/right. It would be nice if we could defer the hiding of the lock icon to later, when we actually know if it needs to be hidden or can stay. Desktop Firefox seems to do something like that as the site identity block seems to remain untouched while navigating such websites.
Ian, do you have any UX-comments on this?
(In reply to Peter Retzer (:pretzer) from comment #1) > Ian, do you have any UX-comments on this? The proposed design in bug 867633 will likely fix this issue, I think.
We always show a single icon in the urlbar now, no more animation.
