"save object as..." sometimes does nothing (depending of target directory)

Steps to reproduce:

Open any page with links.
Right-click (on any link) -> Save object as...
Select some directory on NETWORK shared disk
(Directory is writable, free space is more than enough)

Fifefox 23.0.1 + WinXPsp3 x86 -bug
Firefox 23.0 + WinXPsp3 x86 -bug
Firefox 22.0 + WinXPsp3 x86 - bug
Firefox 21.0 + WinXPsp3 x86 - NO bug(!!!)
Firefox 23.0.1 + Win7sp1 x64 - NO bug
Firefox 23.0.1 + MacOSX - NO bug


Actual results:

Noting.
File was not saved.
It didn't appear in download manager.
No error reporting was displayed.

When i select another directory on the same network shared disk - save is ok.


Expected results:

File must be saved in specified location.

OS: Windows 7 → Windows XP
Hardware: x86_64 → x86
WFM with the latest Nightly (build ID: 20130922030201). On a Win XP 32-bit machine, with latest Nightly, I opened http://edition.cnn.com, and tried to save a link from there, in a network shared folder.
Closing this, based on comment 1, but please reopen the bug if you can still reproduce the issue.
