Hi Julien Wajsberg,
I see you add a "needinfo?", what do you want to know from our side?
Thanks!
Sorry, I thought the question in comment 5 was for the reporter ;)

From 1 (highest priority) to 4 (lowest priority), (for example, 1 is draft support for Messages), what priority would you put on this bug ?

IMHO, the higher the better.
This was a question for you, so that we can decide when we'll do this. Please choose a number ;)

Can this bug be fixed on v2.0?

Hi Julien, per comment#10 seems you've ever considered to work on it? Would you help share your view now? Should I say this is a design limitation in current SW? This could be a reference input for our coming Triage. Thanks.

I really don't know how MIDI and MMF files can be read. So I don't know how much of work it is.

If the Music app supports this, the amount of work in the Messages app is really minimal. So NI Dominic: do we support such files? If no, can you share the needed work?
Thanks !

MIDI and MMF(specified by Yamaha) are both file formats that widely used back to the feature phone age, people usually have their ringtones in these kind of formats, also it's common for people to share those files via mms messages.

This is probably asking the <audio> element can play MIDI and MMF or not, if the <audio> element supports them, then the music open activity is capable to play them, though we still cannot see MIDI and MMF listed in music app because deviceStorage does not accept these two formats.

Chris, do you know if we have plan to support MIDI and MMF? thanks.

We don't have plans to support MIDO and MMF in the audio element on the web. If it is needed for device specific applications or functionality then it can be supported if restricted to certified apps only. This is the general rule we've been following to prevent exposure of other formats to the web platform that are not consistently playable.

Note that we don't support them internally in Gecko so actual support would depend on the device platform having support for it (ie. libstagefright would need to support it on the device).

Thanks Chris! If I understand it correctly, that means this current status is by design and as our intention. Pls feel free to correct me if this is wrong interpretation.

Then this one is a candidate to de-nom. in coming Triage.

[Triage] de-nom as per design and intention.

FxOS no longer in tree, marking incomplete.

There are bug similar to this, like bug 1285957. If we are going to support MIDI files at some point, we should probably centralize on a bug for that.
