Hi team,

We need to call on your expertise to help us localise two screenshots for the upcoming GA of Firefox for Android 24.

As before, we will ask our agencies in Europe to provide the translations for the text we need to localise i.e.:

For the reader mode screenshot (attached):

Firefox for Android Makes Mobile Browsing Faster & Easier

Firefox for Android makes it easy to get to your favourite sites with a personalised page that we call the Awesome Screen. Firefox for Android includes a new and improves Awesome Screen to help get you to where you want to go on the Web quickly.

The Awesome Screen now completes your URL destination as-you-type to get you to your favourite sites faster. Firefox for Android includes Switch to Tab that lets you easily find and switch to any open tab from your Awesome Screen without opening duplicates.

For the share screenshot (attached):

We'll share the translations here by the end of the week (aiming for tomorrow), which should hopefully mean we can have the finalised versions ready on Monday for Tuesday's GA release.

Thanks so much in advance for your help with this!
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Karolina

Adding Jesse here too.

Thanks, Karolina! Team, I am really not familiar with this process but I am wondering if there might be a more efficient way to do this? What would happen if we simply changed the language on the Android phone and took the screen shot that way? I *believe* that would change the language of Firefox on the phone so we could just simply visit the Web page and take the screen shot that way? Karolina, I also don't think it needs to be the same screens - we can do something local for each market (for example, when showing Quickshare, we could have different publications per market as the Web page the user is visiting) I think that might be more efficient than translating and then creatively replacing the text :) Just a thought!

Also, Karolina if we do move forward with the translation bits, the blog content has already been translated so that should be an easy/quick :)

Hi, it's not clear to me what concrete help you need from the l10n-drivers team, can you give us more details please? Thanks

Just following the usual process we followed for screenshot localisation.

That would certainly be an option, but three things on this. When I go to the menu I see in the screenshot, it appears from the bottom (not from the top) and the option to 'share' is greyed out. Also, we would have to add the circle to highlight the word 'share'. Easy enough to do in something like Paintbrush I guess. Finally, just want to check that you don't have to re-download Fx for Android each time you want to change the language. I couldn't easily find an option to change the language in the settings or tools drop down menu.

Yes, that's a good suggestion and would take the weight off localisation.

I hadn't recognised this as an existing blog post. That's good news, thanks!

Hi Pascal,

Seems I might have filed a bug too soon. Apologies if that's the case here!
We actually may be able to find another way to do this. In which case, I'll close this bug.

Should have this resolved today.

Many thanks,
Karolina

Hi team,

My apologies for opening this bug. Shannon and I worked together and found an efficient way to get the screenshots we need done - and good news for all on cc, we can do it ourselves.

Thanks,
Karolina
