STR:

1) open a page (test case in bug 909752 is good)
2) zoom in a small bit
3) take your fingers off the screen
4) attempt to zoom out

result: lots of weirdness including black or white screens, weird origins, and random panning.

Some of this sounds like the behaviour that I was seeing in bug 927027; marking as a dependency since I'm not sure it's a 100% dupe.
