Before installing the java plug-in I was able to open pages containing java applets but a download plugin pop-up would show up. After cancelling the pop-up I would be able to work with the web page but the java applet would show blank with a cyan puzzle piece. So that I would be able to see the java content I installed the java plugin for the Mozilla 0.9.2 browser I am using from the mozilla.org releases page link to ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.0/unix/linux22/xpi/jre.xpi. When I visit sites with Java content now, the browser crashes immediately without an error message or core dump. An example of the sites I can not access is www.gtaa.com. I am using RedHat 7.1 and Ximian Gnome 1.4.

WFM linux build 2001072021 but I'm using the java run time environment 1.3.1 downloaded from http://java.sun.com Try downloading the newer JRE and replace the plug in manually.
WORKSFORME with build 2001072522 and JDK1.3.0_01.
