Mmmm, control f (and control g) works for me in today's build: 20130916003001)
The shortcuts are always with Command, and not Control key. However, even if I use Control, commands still don't work: no search window shows. Latest trunk in Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5.
Ooops, sorry for the noise: Mac OSX issue here ! my apologies (working for me on Win8).
I fixed this in: http://hg.mozilla.org/comm-central/rev/25b5fb58eb0a You need a build on or later than 20130916
