Details
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:24.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/24.0 (Beta/Release)
Build ID: 20130910160258
Steps to reproduce:
I have two spellers in TB 24:
- en_GB
- pt_PT
I was toggling between them, both in the message subject and in the body.
Actual results:
Sometimes spelling gets deactivated
Expected results:
Like in previous versions of TB, spelling should work all the time.

Does this happen also in the first compose window you open after launching Thunderbird or only in later ones?

Arch,
I have been trying to reproduce it, but sometimes it works and others doesn't.
The fix I have found for it is to:
1) Open TB 24
2) Compose new message
3) Change speller language to the one I want (English or Portuguese) both in body and subject
4) Close message+TB 24
5) Open TB 24
6) Compose new message

Marco, thanks for filing your correct observations that spell check between subject and body can get into undefined/confusing states.
Looks like bug 717292, which might be fixed by bug 967494.
