Details

I install the latest nightly build 20010722 as root. It comes up as root, but when I try to bring it up as a regular user, it immediately exits after the following output: [keith@keith-linux ~]$ /usr/local/mozilla/mozilla& [1] 12209 [keith@keith-linux ~]$ /usr/local/mozilla/run-mozilla.sh /usr/local/mozilla/mozilla-bin MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME=/usr/local/mozilla LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/mozilla:/usr/local/mozilla/plugins:/zambeel/xerces/lib:/zambeel/insure/lib.linux2 LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/mozilla:/usr/local/mozilla/components SHLIB_PATH=/usr/local/mozilla LIBPATH=/usr/local/mozilla ADDON_PATH=/usr/local/mozilla MOZ_PROGRAM=/usr/local/mozilla/mozilla-bin MOZ_TOOLKIT= moz_debug=0 moz_debugger= [1] Exit 139 /usr/local/mozilla/mozilla One hint to the possible cause of the problem is that I did not have the problem before when I was using regular GNOME (Linux 6.2 kernel 2.2.16). But the problem now occurs since I installed Helix Gnome (just downloaded two days ago). I am using the sawfish window manager.
Oops, I forgot to mention that I did try first bringing it up as root and bringing up mail, address book and composer windows, as I've heard that sometimes fixes the problem, but it still doesn't work.
Were you successful in bringing up Mozilla as root? If so, I think this might be a duplicate of Bug 42184. The release notes mention this: If you are installing Mozilla on a multi-user operating system such as Linux, Unix, or Windows 2000, you should install it separately in the user directory of each user who plans to use Mozilla. (Bug 42184) If you install Mozilla in a shared write-protected directory, it may not run properly. (Bugs 42184)
