I'm trying to load a lot of data into my paas app and I think I'm hitting data limits of some kind. My connection keeps getting disconnected at right around the same time of the data import with the python exception: "DatabaseError: terminating connection due to administrator command".
What are the limits on database sizes here? I'm using postgres but I was getting similar issues with mysql.

based on your description, it sounds like you have hit the max database size, which in the dev paas is 200Mb for both mysql and postgresql. at this point we don't have the resources in dev to make this database size limit larger.
does my theory seem plausible in this case?

Yes that seems plausible, unfortunately I don't think there is much more I can do to shrink my DB size so I guess I'm back to self-hosting :(
