We can use component watching to achieve the same end result, and it messes with automatically updating the Assigned To field in the mc-merge script. Luke, as module owner can you sign off on this change?

Go for it; I've never heard of anyone depending on 'general@js.bugs'.

Byron, could you also update all the bugs with the current assignee set to the old default?
