When opening a window (e.g. just starting the browser, or when I go through Persona authentication), the pref reverts to false. I can "Reset" it through about:config, but it will be set to false again after opening another window. I'm currently seeing this on Windows 7, but I've seen similar behavior on OS X 10.8, both with early Aurora builds from the 26 branch.
Add-ons disabled?
You're right, this is due to an addon I installed last week. Sorry about that!
