I accidentally added a new mail folder to my IMAP INBOX. I then dragged the folder to the trash but the folder continued to show the twisty (indicating that there were folders inside). I then emptied the trash folder, and it continued to show the twisty as though it had folders too. I expected the twisties to be removed when there were no more enclosed folders. I was able to get it to display correctly after closing the twisty for the entire account and opening it again.
I believe there's an old bug filed for this.
