Seems were are experiencing some packet loss via the VPN to the paris office. Our indication came from nagios checks timing out. From nagios1.private.scl3; --- admin1a.private.par1.mozilla.com ping statistics --- 30 packets transmitted, 26 received, 13% packet loss, time 30025ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 207.784/211.447/216.509/2.091 ms From SFO office; --- admin1a.private.par1.mozilla.com ping statistics --- 30 packets transmitted, 25 packets received, 16.7% packet loss round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 209.140/212.395/215.738/1.627 ms
there's loss leaving the global crossing network which is our current vpn transit path. i've moved the vpn to exit via interroute and loss has subsided. i'll poke it tomorrow to see if the loss has subsided.

yes, it did http://netops2.private.scl3.mozilla.com/smokeping/sm.cgi?target=Offices.PAR1.concrete-mozilla-org i moved the vpn back to gblx and its happy again.
