I'd still like to see more ways to make the "double click to crop" more obvious. I've watched a few people use it who don't see it. Perhaps a scissor icon or a colored border around the text box? A larger font?
I'm not sure if this is something that needs to be obvious without intent, maybe just needs to be obvious when they think "oh, I want to crop this image, I wonder how". It is then that we need to hope the tooltip is obvious. What is the first thing the user attempts to do/look at. We also have to consider people that didn't see it, but only needed it because of bug 919682. Once that wall is removed, maybe they can discover it when they need it, but otherwise it's out of the way. Using the question in the first paragraph, with and without bug 919682, things look like this. after bug 919682 Question: "oh, I want to crop this image, I wonder how". Answer: "figure out how to crop" <- Feels logical and discoverability is directed at this question. before bug 919682. Question: "How do I resize my image?" Answer: "figure out how to crop" <- broken. Discoverability is not currently in a place designed for this question. As long as the solution needed is the solution to their problem, we might be alright. When a solution is not the obvious answer to the problem, we have more work to do. I say we let bug 919682 land for a bit then revisit this.
Closing this. I think some user testing is needed.
