I am seeing that camera app hangs sometime in subsequent launches. Steps to produce: 1) Reboot device 2) launch camera app 3) Take a snapshot of picture 4) Press HOME button ONLY ONCE (Don't press twice) . Camera app will disappear and you will see HomeScreen 5) Try to re-launch camera app again without doing any other activity (like home screen panning or launching another app). 6) You will see BLACK screen and preview never appears.

Sorry for #comment 5. I can still produce this issue. But I have to REPEAT step (2) to (5) (in #comment 0) 8-10 times. Then I can see the issue again. It seems to me that frequency of this problem has reduced in latest gaia/gecko but it is still present. Thanks to nkot@qanalydocs.com for logcat attachment in #comment 3.

Which kind of black screen are you seeing? Is it all black or show disabled ui on the right side of the display? If the display is all black, it seems dup of Bug 919789 and Bug 909181.

(In reply to Sotaro Ikeda [:sotaro] from comment #9) > Tapas, can you answer the question in Comment 8? It is 'all back' . I don't see any disabled UI. Please let me know if you need screenshots of device.

Sorry, I should have mentioned 'all black' instead of 'all back' in above comment.

It's a regression from v1.1 - the issue reproduces consistently all the way back to the 6/21 1.2 (Build ID: 20130621031231) - does not reproduce on v1.1 Along with this bug I've tested bug 909181 (per comment 8) - bug 909181 does not reproduce on 6/21 build, so these two are probably different issues Bug 919789 is a regression from v1.1 as well, potentially might be a duplicate

Confirmed, this is reproducible often (~75% of the time) on inari, with: - gecko: v1.2:b3184fcefdb4773e58e94e4e3922f5f7b2d4df3c - gaia: v1.2:a13c76f8d3c617ee57c302c103da04ed1a6298d1 When the Camera app comes back up all black, the screen is black but the LED backlight appears to still be on; pressing the home button returns to the homescreen, and relaunching the Camera app may cause it to appear properly. If, while the screen is black, I press where the shutter button would be, no shutter sound is heard and no picture is taken. This is nearly identical to what I observed in bug 906606 comment 10: screen sometimes black on re-activating an app (either from the homescreen or the cardview), but otherwise functional. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I don't think this is a Camera-app specific problem. Bumping to General.

The black screen seems a dup of Bug 920890. After locally applying attachment 810945 [details] in Bug 920890, I do not see the black screen.
