Right now you need to edit _fe/js/config.js to specify where the endpoint lives: define({ 'serviceURL': 'http://localhost:8080' }); The problem with this solution is that this file is committed into the repository, and you'll need to rebuild the frontend if you change this URL in production mode. We need to way to specify where the backend lives in a somewhat more dynamic fashion.
