We're probably going to ditch this API, according to bug 910412, but for a transitional period it will still be available on B2G.
Should we enable it for Desktop and Android webapps too? Or is it useless at this point?
It seems to be done on Android, since version 34. See bug 886627
But, I agree with you : it would be nice to have that on desktop too.
FxOS/Gonk has been removed from the codebase. Mass-invalidating FxOS related Device Interface bugs to clean up the component. 

If I incorrectly invalidated something, please let me know.
