Details
slamm requested a new bug be filed on the fact that the flash panels are updating every x seconds regardless of whether or not the sidebar is physically open or not I didn't add anyone else to the cc: list, but please do if you feel there should be discussion on this why would we want to continuing loading if the content is not visible?

Resolution: --- → INVALID
We should continue to load flash panel items because we will one day add to the code a "# of alerts waiting" to the status bar that is always visible below the Sidebar. cc'ing waterson and slamm, marking resolved.

OK that makes sense. As long as no funny business is happening if you have no notifications set up. In other words, I don't want some bit of code firing every 300 seconds and spinning it's wheels while it figures out that there are no notifications set up at all. Chris, can you confirm how the plumbing works on this.

Yes, if you have no notifications set up at all, then there won't be any extra net traffic generated, nor will there be any CPU load.
