These 2 goals that seem to be mutually exclusive: 1) to enable the app to dynamically produce English strings that look natural and seamless, e.g. https://dl-web.dropbox.com/spa/49xeskca52abzlc/4ybv_clf.png 2) to localize the app. The reason: the grammar differences of languages, namely word order and/or a system of cases. E.g. French: "Created" + "ago" + 3 + "days". Russian: "Preview" + "for" + "him", "Created by" + "her". (unlike English, ALL words after "for" must be changed the way "he" changes into "him" or "she" into "her".) Also, in Russian "x" + "likes" - the form of the word "likes" changes depending on the number of likes: one form for numbers ending in 2-3, and another form for the rest of the cases. Also the Russian for "101 likeS" is "101 like". So, either the app speaks seamlessly like a human being but in one language, or it speaks like a robot but in many languages, i.e., not "make by" + user + " created " + date + num + "likes", but something like "Author: " + user + ", Date: " + ", Likes: " + num.
this is a known and unsolvable problem in localization using the localization solution we've decided on.
