At Mozilla Summit (Toronto) this past weekend, I realized it would have been really nice to have a quick way to share our profile link with other Mozillians. One way to do this would be to add a largish QR code that contains the URL of the given page. This would allow one Mozillian to load their own profile or favorite group on their own mobile device and share the QR code with another Mozillian via the camera on the other Mozillian's mobile device. Requirements: 1) This QR code image could be hidden unless activated by a button; 2) For Mozillian profiles, maybe provide an option to turn on/off QR code on their profile. 3) to save processing, QR code should only be generated when activated. Related to this, QR codes to Mozillian Profiles should be provided on stickers Mozillans can add to their name badges at Mozilla events (e.g. summits, MozCamps, etc.). This would allow Mozillian's to hold their name badge near their face when another Mozillian was taking their picture as a means of linking up later by as people are better at remembering faces than names. Again the QR code needs to be large enough for it to be of sufficient resolution in a photo for a QR code reader to decode it from the resulting photo.
i am interested in this bug, could i be assigned it please?
:williamr, I think this feature needs your review. Could you let us know whether you think it's a valuable addition, and if so, how you'd want it to work? Personally I'd like to know how much support there is for this feature before adding it to the UI.

KLB, thanks for suggesting this feature! I agree there should be an easier way to share your Mozillians profile with others at events. Harald even created a Bump-like prototype where two Mozillians could easily connect to each other at events using their devices and you would have a list of people you met. Researchers have shown that QR codes are generally more costly than valuable in terms of the user experience though. Therefore, I'm hesitant to include it on Mozillians profiles for now. If you think it's a good option, feel free to pilot it by generating some QR codes for yourself and others at an event. I'd love to hear how it goes. I think there's an opportunity for a lightweight tool that allows Mozillians to remember who they've connected with at events. An 'Event Buddies' app that uses the Mozillians API would make it easy for me to type in KLB and add you to my connections from the Summit. Jake, let's hold off on working on this bug for now. Stop by #commtools in IRC and we can find you another bug to work on. Thanks!

Yes I agree! Sorry i am new to this and working on fixing bugs as part of a university project. I am looking for a bug with medium complexity level. I will have a look at some other bugs or head to the irc channel. Thank you
Does comment 3 make this a WONTFIX?
Yes, marking as WONTFIX.

Whether it is a QR code a bump app or something else there needs to be an easier way to share Mozillian profiles at events. QR codes have the advantage that so many smartphones already have QR readers. They also have an advantage that you can take a picture of someone with a QR code on their name badge and then decode the code from their picture. Living in Maine, I don't make it to too many Mozilla events although I'd like to go to more. So it would be some time before I get to one to try any experiments.
Bumping to verified wontfix per comment 6 and comment 7
