Going to the above url, place the cursor in any of the text fields so the insert text caret appears, as it is supposed to be. Now scroll down to almost the end of the bug. There's a point (around the 2001-07-19 19:48 message), so that from there on, a vertical caret appears filling the height of the page. Last build tested is 2001072603
I would suspect this to be a dupe of 86476 -- one of the ubercaret bugs that jfrancis had *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 86476 ***

I can't reproduce this with my 10/02/01 Mozilla build. Alfonso - please reopen this bug if you can reproduce this in a more recent build.

Reopening. This problem exists for me with both build 10/02/03 and 10/03/03. Steps to reproduce: 1. Go to http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77675 2. place cursor in some input box, for example QA Contact, after jrgm@netscape.com 3. Cursor is blinking there. Everything is fine. 4. With the mouse, drag the thumb of the scroll bar to reach the end of the page. and now for me, a big caret is blinking over the page. I'll add a screenshot right now. Note that the horizontal position of the line is the same that had the caret in the input box above the page. If you leave the cursor blinking in another input then the horizontal position of the blinking line at the bottom of the page will move to the new position.

Yup that sure looks strange. I can't reproduce this bug worth beans. :-) Sujay - You running Win98? Can you give it a try? Alfonso - Is the entire thing blinking? Or is it just a solid line?

The vertical line blinks like a caret, with the same rythm. The rest of the page doesn't show any other problem. As I said in the first message the line only appear after a certain distance from the real caret (if I initially place the cursor in other input, then the line will start a little lower in the document). Maybe I'm saying something stupid, but this could be related to some kind of overflow with 32bits integers (just an idea, but I don't think that this could happen in a multiplataform project like Mozilla) And I also didn't comment that changing screen resolution to 1024x768 shows the bug at the same place, and if I click on the page while the line is showing it dissapears (as well as the caret inside the input box due to the lost focus)
I see the problem. its very easy to reproduce....this bug does not need any further explaining...
this happens only on Win98. on Win NT it does not happen.
