User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_8_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/30.0.1599.69 Safari/537.36
Steps to reproduce:
I created a video with no problem at home. However on work network, I can't do anything. When I go to watch the video I created it just times out and continues to show the loading screen for my video.
Actual results:
I can't play or use Popcorn maker on certain networks.
Expected results:
I would like to be able to use this product regardless of my wired or wireless connections. What do I need to know about getting this to work on any network? Certain browsers? Versions? Network connections?

Sorry this is breaking for you. Do you have a URL for the video you are trying to watch, which is failing? I'd like to try and debug it here locally.
Here is my URL: https://huffspan.makes.org/popcorn/1gtr
It worked great before. Thanks!

Is it possible that your work network is blocking Youtube? Can you try and load https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vU1GaBHdmvw in your browser at work?
It's telling me that page is unavailable, but I can watch other videos on YouTube.

Can you take a screenshot of that page and attach it to the bug?
Scott, is there any way we can look at the data behind the video? Maybe using an API call?

That YouTube link is working now. I made it http:// instead of https:// and now I can see that YouTube video fine

Great, thanks!
Could you still post a screenshot of that page where the Youtube video didn't load (with https)? The https and https versions both work for you, so I'd be interested in finding out why the https version doesn't work for you.
Flags: needinfo?(scott)
Summary: Popcorn maker timed out → Youtube video doesn't work with https link
I must have done something to authorize that https:// site by changing it to http:// because now it loads with no problems (but it does give me a warning button to alert me that I am watching a secure site video).
But my Popcorn problem seems to be solved! I went make to my original URL (https://huffspan.makes.org/popcorn/1gtr) a http:// site and it's awesome! I guess that's all I needed to do but thanks for walking through that troubleshooting process.

Jacob, there's probably one or more SUMO articles we should get written on working with mixed content and various resource types in our tools. It's confusing how the http/https stuff pans out in practice.

Sounds good, I'll start on that.
Also, Scott, should we be giving an error message for mixed content if we can detect it, like in this situation?
Or better yet, autocorrect https into http?

This feels like it might be a bug with ehuff's work network, have any of you seen a window that says "You are watching a secure video site?" I don't think we can actually fix this in our code.

Its probably an issue on our network. We have security permission problems often with our network filtering (I'm a teacher/tech director at a school - - so we have strong filters in place)
