We should highlight <input type=number>'s spin-up/down buttons when they are depressed, even when "-moz-appearance:none" is in affect. This is hard right now since it requires significant changes to the CSS parser - see bug 922669.
We've decided it's not really worth having much in the way of default unthemed styling for the spin buttons. If anyone wants to style the spinner themselves then almost certainly any default unthemed styling that we provide will not be what they want. We might as well just let them specify all the style that they do want themselves. This applies to :hover styling as much as non-hover styling. So closing this as wontfix.
