Everybody likes to know that the work they are doing has meaning. In the case of the support forum the meaning is in helping not just one person, but hundreds or thousands who can read up on the problem and solution. I as a support forum contributor would like to be informed regularly about the number of people I reached with my contributions as acknowledgment that my contributions are helping people. The implementation of this could be by weekly emails, or on the personal dashboard, etc.
