Thunderbird needs some banners for all of our social media channels as was discussed at our meeting today.
Hi Benjamin. Unfortunately the Mozilla creative team (i.e., the recipients of this bug) won't be able to tackle this b/c of resourcing priorities. Would suggest opening it up to the community, though...perhaps you can get some good assets generated that way.

Can I get some more info about which kind of design you want. I'm interested on doing these for you.

Sashoto, can you give me some idea of the sorts of design projects that you have done in the past? Also, looking at some of the Thunderbird social media sites, do you have specific suggestions?

We're looking for people to be involved with Thunderbird marketing, so it's great that you are showing interest. There is a lot of transition going on at Thunderbird these days, so we are not as organized as we could be. But don't give up on us! Probably the best way for you to keep people posted about your interests in being involved is in the tb-planning email list.

This bug should probably be moved out of Marketing/Design since the MoCo design team does little these days for Thunderbird, and we are transitioning to a new governance structure. There really is not an adequate category for this, so let's try Thunderbird/General for now.

Dave, do you have any ideas here of what is needed?

Thanks for replying. Sashoto did awesome work in Mozilla Bangladesh Community. He made many awesome artworks for the Facebook page of Mozilla Bangladesh(1). Most of the design of Mozilla Bangladesh Facebook page was done by him. Also, he made Banners for Mozilla Bangladesh. Here are some artworks made by him for Mozilla Bangladesh FB Page.(2,3,4,5,6)

I hope he can also make awesome banners for Thunderbird like he made for Mozilla Bangladesh.

Sashoto's banners certainly look pretty good. If it's possible to design a series for Thunderbird, we could perhaps be a bit more specific about the fundamental advantages of Thunderbird compared to our competition, and work these into each banner design, for example:

- open code, open community
- extensibility (add-ons)
- security and privacy (via support for strong encryption)
- features for email power users (multiple account support, strong search capability)

Each banner would reflect each aspect respectively, and we could rotate these periodically to keep the social networks fresh.
OK, I'll create some idea and share here ASAP. But before that, let me know one thing. Do you have any specific size (in pixel dimension) for banner?

So I completely missed the last part of your comment – sorry. Is 850x315 pixel dimension possible please for a start? This will cover Facebook.
Hi Sashoto, do you need any more information on this one? It would be great to have something ready to go ready for the v38 release.
Hi Sashoto, with the v38 release out the door it would be an ideal time to freshen up the social networks graphics – let us know if you're still able to work on this.

(Incidentally, in addition to Facebook, Twitter banner pixel dimensions would be 1500x500px).

I am sorry for responding late. I was busy with my own projects. Hopefully I will try to create 2 banner on same design today. One for facebook (851x315) and twitter (1500 * 500).

Terrific work – these look great. Later down the track we might have a few suggested changes, but for starters I'd like to proceed with publishing these to Twitter and Facebook (Kent and Wayne have been advised). Are you happy for these to be used as-is, or are there any modifications you wish to make first? Also, would you like to be credited by name?
