When a site is asking to get my location I click allow but then it says I must enable location services. It prompts me to open the preferences but the enable button is grayed out so I can't enable it.

It looks as if you need to click on the lock before you can make changes. Did you do that?

oh, sorry, that was completely non-obvious to me at the time but now it's totally obvious :) Thanks for the extra pair of eyes.
