Many of the tiles on the current front page of webmaker.org are cut off due to long titles. Additionally, both Russian and Thai on staging have much of the info cut off on the smaller tiles - see https://webmaker.mofostaging.net/th-TH/ To prevent this, perhaps we should remove both likes and the creation date from the smaller tiles. Kate / Dale, wondering if you guys have thoughts on this?
I've been thinking about this today. I think removing the creation date from the small tiles, as it isn't very important information to get at first glance, but I think we should somehow keep like counts somewhere. Will talk to Kate about this tomorrow.
So I think if we get rid of the creation date, but move the heart icon above the buttons and the like count beside that, we'll have a small tile design that *should* work across most languages. I'm noticing that the heart gets pushed underneath the buttons when the button text is long, which looks werid. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/4pucp3nxq5sb9l0/2013-10-17%20at%201.05%20PM.png Any ideas/suggestions?
I think the gallery is going to need an audit for localization in general. Look at this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/xwoawar5d0wdkyw/2013-11-04%20at%2011.44%20AM.png We need to ensure that our CSS is fluid enough that we can fit all kinds of text. This may require working of some elements, such as the small make tiles. Pinging Kate for design input.
I think we should use a layout similar to what is on /teach or /starter-makes.
Agreed; that seems like the best thing to do!
Gavin/Kate: Are either of you working on gallery stuff? I can tackle this in a week but I wasn't sure if either of you were working on something similar; don't want to overlap!
Ah, this is resolved as of recent changes i landed to the gallery
