x86/Linux, self-compiled (28 Jul 2001) w/ gcc-3.0. (I've seen this with maybe a month's worth of nightlies, though.) Moving messages between local folders (including to the trash can) is very slow. I multiple-select a swath of messages, then drag them to another folder. I would approximate between 2 and 4 messages are moved per second, making deleting large numbers of mailing list messages (eg, Bugzilla and Bugtraq mail) a painful proposition. It doesn't seem to matter how many messages I select: 40 are moved at the same rate as 800. My setup: IMAP account over an aDSL line (so faster than dial-up, but not a LAN) with many filters set up to move incomming list mail to local folders.
