We need to know the new API to evaluate the changes.

Please see the |Part 1, DOM API IDL| patch at bug 854326. Since we make the new parameter optional, Gaia is supposed to have extra changes.

Gene, I don't get it. Since the new parameter is optional, why do we need gaia changes ? What I understand is that if we don't add this new parameter, gecko will automatically use the setting that was configured in the Settings app. It seems to me that it's good for what we want to do in 1.3 ?

Great ! Then we should just close this bug INVALID, right ?
As far as I know, the only Gaia change is at bug 918558, comment #6 for dealing with the retrieval mode.
