Hi- We need to make a new homepage tile to promote Webmaker by October 28 at the latest. The tile should be created to support both homepage formats - the existing one and the new design (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/?v=2) and should incorporate the new Webmaker look and feel. This new WebMaker tile will replace the Maker party tile on the existing homepage and the MozFest tile on the new design homepage. Erica and Brett - Could you please provide copy and graphic direction (including any graphics files) for the MoCo creative team asap in this bug? Thanks all for your help on this, Jen
PS Craig Cook has provided detailed helpful hints for designing tiles for the new homepage design here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=925904#c8

Hi, Jen! This is tight timing for us - we are all rushing towards product launches at MozFest, our largest public facing event of the year. It runs through the 28th (or at least folks will be traveling back then). I wonder if this is something you could lead and we could stay in the loop to approve? All branding for webmaker is available at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/styleguide/identity/webmaker/branding/ Our new front page has landed on staging at https://webmaker.mofostaging.net/teachtheweb, and you can find much of the treatment and text there. We'll have the site localized in thai and russian, and likely french, spanish, and portugeuse. Let us know! Brett

Hey Jen, One quick question on timing. Does the tile need to be live by the 28th or design done by the 28th. I'm looking at sourcing right now.
Brett - thanks so much - we will let you know if the MoCo creative team need more direction. We can lead and you can approve, but it would be helpful to know in advance if a generic sort of "Teach the Web - Start Making" call to action is OK Jennifer B - I'd love to get it live the week of the 28th since both the Maker Party and Moz Fest tiles will be outdated by then. However, I understand that life is a little nuts right now.
Let me see what we can do realistically. I'll have an update on Monday.
I know that Matt Thompson and Erika Drushka have been working on some new messaging and copy for a refresh of the Webmaker homepage. Might be good to check with them to see where they are on that. As it is, I don't really have enough direction. Thanks.
Thanks for reviewing, Matej. Brett - Matej said he'll chat with Matt T about direction this week. We'll reach out again via this bug if we need additional info.
Jen, I'm assigning design over to Matt.

Here's some potential copy to use, from our new front page. Does this help? Mozilla Webmaker: We teach the web We're a global community dedicated to teaching digital skills and web literacy. Let's explore, tinker and create together to build a web that's open and made by everyone. [Join us]
Here is the webmaker press blurb for MozFest. You might find a useful line or two: Webmaker is Mozilla's project to teach the world web skills. Every day, thousands of people visit webmaker.org to make and remix web pages and dynamic videos using the free, open source tools Thimble, Popcorn Maker and X-Ray Goggles. The site is a vibrant hub of user-generated content and has fostered a global community of people who care about web literacy and want to teach and share their skills with others. Teaching and learning are supported by interactive tools that illustrate the basics of HTML and CSS, as well as free, remixable teaching resources for a range of skill levels. Webmaker.org also features a global events platform to connect people interested in sharing their skills with those that are hungry to learn. Webmaker facilitates one of Mozilla's biggest annual engagement campaigns, the global Maker Party, which uses volunteer-hosted events to teach digital literacy to people around the world. This year, Maker Parties held in 330 cities resulted in more than 50,000 Makes on webmaker.org.
Matt and Erika, thanks so much for the added info. I think the copy in comment 9 is great for this. I just tweaked it a bit to fit the format and length: [HEADLINE] We teach the Web [COPY] Let's explore, tinker and create together to build a Web that's open and made by everyone. [CTA] Become a Webmaker » And here's a line for the collapsed state of the new design: [COLLAPSED STATE] Learn the Web »

Hi everyone, I've attached a couple of examples of what I am thinking for the Webmaker Moz.org tile. Overall I've kept things quite simple, with the main focus on the logo, along with a few of the brand colours from the current site. Please let me know if this is something you had envisioned for this, or if there are other elements that you feel would give this a stronger Webmaker feel. Thanks! Matt
Looks good to me. MoFo folks, what do you think?
Craig - Could we include this one in the Nov 4 update of the new homepage? (We can hold off for now on the existing homepage). The order would be: Shape: Lightbeam Build: Fx OS Community: MDN Teach: Webmaker
