Introduce a preference switch to always keep colored scheme icons on Windows 7

There is currently build-in algorithm that sets gray Aero-style icons on Windows 7 for non-Aero themes as Windows Classic or High-Contrast. This is annoying and inconsistent with Firefox on the same machine. Please introduce a switch that forces to always use colored icons on Windows 7. Current workaround are selective CSS hacks or settins Thunderbird process compatibility mode to Windows XP. That's not the right way. See bug 608792 comments started by #19

What means "Resolved Wontfix"? The issue will not be fixed? I found several posts in various forums but no solution.

Normally yes, but that is when the WONTFIX is set by a module peer, which is not the case here. I don't know the history of this particular issue, but please feel free to discuss it by reopening this bug or making comments on the related bug 668336

I didn't find a way to reopen this bug. The theme "xpDefault" takes the classic colored theme from omni.ja. What a nuisance to be forced to install a theme that only copies what is in the standard theme already. I second the request for a switch to chose either the aero or the classic theme in Windows 7.

IMO it's not possible to switch the theme only through a pref change. The theme manifest needs changes to point all theme links to chrome instead of chrome/aero. Maybe it could be possible to create a xpi which contains only this tweaked manifest. Then this could be added in the package as Seamonkey is doing with his two themes. But this would also need additional maintenance. For me the third party theme "xpDefault" is the better alternative to such a "manifest hack". And please have also in mind that Firefox has no more colored icons also on XP. So I propose to WONTFIX this bug again with pointing to the xpDefault add-on as an alternative.

I close it again as WONTFIX. When we follow the FX way to unify the chrome files then also manifest hacks don't work anymore. And with the xpDefault theme it exist a good solution.
