When you keep operating Firefox for a week, the memory usage never decreases even when all windows are closed and Firefox isn't doing anything, reaching a peak of 1 GB. It shouldn't be more than 50 MB when all windows are closed, regardless of how long Firefox has been open.

Hi tbodt, can you try using Firefox with no add-ons and see if this still happens? Maybe in less of a timeframe than a week. If you notice it happening again, could you save the results from about:memory, click "measure and save", and attach that file? There is more information about how to diagnose memory leak issues here:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram
and here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Performance:Leak_Tools
Thanks!

I just opened Firefox and looked at the about:memory page. In the ~5 minutes while I did that, the memory usage went from 120 MB at startup to 160 MB, and constantly increases whenever I click on anything or use Firefox in any way. It is now at 233 MB. The memory usage doesn't drop more than 10 MB even when I click on GC, CC, and Minimize Memory Usage. There is definitely a leak. I will be attaching a memory log.

I don't see anything notable here.
For some of the amounts of memory you are talking about I don't think what you are asking for is reasonable.
That said, there are efforts in progress to address problems with allocation sizes. Given that the information in this bug is not sufficient to be actionable and there are plenty of other bug reports that are actionable, I'd like to suggest that you reopen this bug in a few months (5-6) if you still see a problem.

I didn't managed to reproduce this issue on the latest release(43.0.4) nor the latest Nightly(46.0a1).
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:43.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/43.0
Build ID: 20160105164030
User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.9; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0
Build ID: 20160113135947
Can you please try to reproduce this on the latest release(43.0.4) and latest Nightly(46.0a1) and provide the results?
When doing this, you could create a new clean Firefox profile, or maybe test in safe mode, as some of this issues may be caused by third party installed addons or custom settings
(https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems).
Thank you,
Vlad
