>>Project/Request Title:
Stack Overflow forums, Developer Program
>>Project Overview:
We are about to launch forums on Stack Overflow to help developers solve coding challenges and issues they might have. We have just agreed on which tags we are buying/sponsoring, the deal is in place and we're just finishing the last financial bits.
As part of this deal we will have a landing page on Stack Overflow (stackoverflow.com/r/mozilla) where our tags and results are collected, and we will have the possibility for some graphics/branding. This bug is for the things that we will need to provide for that page.
We are open for suggestions on what to use - could be a mix of Firefox, Firefox OS and MDN.
(apologies for a late notice - this has been in negotiations for some time)

Hi Robert,
I was wondering if you might be able to provide a screenshot of a sample page that includes the four elements listed above. I'm trying to get a better understanding what's needed, but I'm having a hard time visualizing.
Thanks!

Valid question. I guess the closest I know is Facebook's page on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/tagged/facebook*
Potentially Mark Coggins might have more material directly from them as well.

Thanks for the additional context. We should be able to create these assets, but will need more direction on the content...which brand(s) are we featuring? Is there copy? If so, what's the message? What's the CTA? That sort of thing...

Good questions, and I'd say the essence of it is to be appealing to developers and make them aware of our developer documentation resources, and developer offerings. All we have in these forums are a few banner and five text links that we will choose: both banners and text links will point to MDN in general, with direct links to certain documentation and then, when it's launched, the Developer Program page (https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Developer_Program).
Talking about brands, I think the design for these should very much go hand-in-hand with the new logo and redesign of MDN, with some classical Firefox logos as well.
Hope this helps!

I agree with what Robert wrote, and to draw it out a bit more, we will be in a sort of interim period between now and the formal launch of the MDN redesign and Mozilla Developer Program.
For the interim--partly because I hope it can be done relatively quickly--I think we could just package the new MDN blue dino for the two logos, and use the dino with simple text spelling out the Mozilla Developer Network, for the leader board and sidebar.
Once we launch the program--which is estimated to be early December--I think we could do with a bit more sophistication and weaving in the concept of the program, rather than just MDN.
By the way, we should have approval from Finance for payment to Stack Overflow next week, so hopefully we could pair that with some interim art around then. ;-)

P.S. Call to action for now is to get technical content from MDN. When we have the program, it will be to join it.

Hey Mark. Just so I'm clear, is the summary here to use the new MDN logo/visual style as the basis to create the various executions requested in comment #0?
Is there copy needed beyond a CTA? And for the CTA, can you explain "technical content"? I'm assuming there's probably a better way to put it for the developers who will be looking at this.

Also, do you have any flexibility on the due date? Possible to hand over assets on Monday instead of Friday?

John,
Yes, for sure for the interim period, the new MDN logo/style can be the basis of everything in comment #0.
Obviously, for the two logos (100x100 & 18x16) we just need them sized. For the leaderboard and sidebar, I think just working in the new MDN tag line, "Shared knowledge for the Open Web" is good enough for now.
On the timing, Monday would be okay. We will go live on 11/1, so I may just give them something half-assed to run for a day or two.

Got it, thanks Mark. Assigning this to Rhonda.
Rhonda, let's shoot for Friday, but we have Monday as an option if the first round isn't quite right. I'll make sure you get the new MDN brand stylings from Sean.

Thanks Rhonda. These look good, but two notes:
- seems like they're missing a CTA button or link of some sort. Robert, Mark - am assuming you want this. Can you provide direction on what it should say.
- the leading on "shared knowledge for the open web" seems a bit too much.

Rhonda & John,
Thank you.
John, I'm not sure there really is ... for this interim period, all we really want developers to know is that there is useful technical content available on MDN. We could say the equivalent of "Come and get it" but that is sort of implied. If you guys have some suggestions, I'm open to it.
Once we launch the program, we will want the art to encourage developers to *join* the program, but that won't happen until early December.
Robert should certainly weigh in if he disagrees.

Thank! I think these are just fine!
That's as much as we can do at this time. Like Mark said, later we will want developers to sign up the Developer Program and more, but for now, all we can do is point them to documentation and resources. Launch-wise, we're not sure when we will launch, because we need to have a minimum of offerings in place to be able to/make it worth launching.

John & Rhonda,
John mentioned something about the leading ... can you make those changes and reattach the new art?
Thank you.

Hey everyone--
I fixed the leading and added link arrows to indicate that you can click. If I have understood you correctly on this thread, that will prompt people to click, but we don't indicate any specific call to action this way.

If you prefer them WITHOUT the arrows, please let me know.
:)
