Tested with: * Firefox 25 beta * latest nightly on OS X 10.8.5 * with both retina and non-retina displays * clean profile Steps to reproduce 1. Focus the search bar 2. press and hold s until search results + characters menu appear Results: The OS X character menu will appear behind the search results. See screenshot.

Interestingly, when I perform the STR from comment #0 (in yesterday's m-c nightly on OS X 10.8.5) the special characters menu opens above the search bar, and so doesn't get obscured. But I can see from your screenshot that it does get obscured when it appears below the search bar. There may not be anything we can do about this, at least directly. However it may be worthwhile looking for a way to guarantee that the special characters menu always appears above the text-input cursor. That way it won't get obscured by any drop-down list (displayed by a combo-box).

Just tried the STR from comment #0 again, this time with the browser window as far up on the screen as I could move it. This time the special characters menu *was* displayed below the search bar (and was obscured by its drop-down list), even though there was still plenty of room above it.
