>>Project/Request Title: Single page template we can paste Job Descriptions onto to hand out at an IT event >>Project Overview: we want to get one template we can paste some job descriptions onto along with the company summary language below so we can get them pinned up at an event for the IT team. We will be posting these up on a bulletin board for people to see so we want the template to have tear aways at the bottom which will include a link get attendees to our Careers Page (https://careers.mozilla.org/en-US/?icn=tabz). Our goal is to create one template which includes the company summary and the most up to date branding - ideally something that design elements of the new careers site, and tear aways with link to route them to our careers page. company summary that will be used on each template: At Mozilla, we’re a global community of technologists, thinkers, and builders working together to keep the Internet alive and accessible so people worldwide can be informed contributors and creators of the Web. We believe this act of human collaboration across an open platform is essential to individual growth and our collective future. >>Creative Specs & Deliverables: a template with company summary and up to date branding with tear aways at the bottom of the template that will have a link to our careers page. We will then be pasting various JDs onto these templates. >>Launch Date: 2013-11-03 >>Creative Due Date: 2013-10-30 >>Mozilla Goal: All >>Points of Contact: ARRAY(0x7fd589be2170)
Hi Shea. Thanks for filing. As a first step, I'm going to reach out to the group that did the new Careers site and see what they can get done in the time frame. In the meantime, can you put all the full set of content for a sample handout (company description, sample job description, tearaway info, etc) into a Google doc and share that? It will be significantly easier to get this done if we have more or less 'real' copy to work with. Also, how were you planning on printing these? That will impact the design as well.
I can answer the printing part... They're just going to be printed on a laser printer (PDF format preferred) on normal paper.
Thanks Amy - very helpful. I would recommend going with a very minimal design then...the website has a lot of detail, photography, visual elements, etc and we can hint at that, but if you're printing in the office then it will be best to keep it very simple. Shea, please do let us know when you'll have that copy doc. Can't get very far without that. Assigning to Rhonda, who has done some related work like this in the past for us.

Unfortunately I don't have any set design but am flexible to any way we can work these things into the template. I would just put the title, then the paragraph of the company blurb, then the job description, then have tear outs however they fit, most likely along the bottom of the page. Sr. Manager of Network Operations/Engineering (this is the job title) At Mozilla, we’re a global community of technologists, thinkers, and builders working together to keep the Internet alive and accessible so people worldwide can be informed contributors and creators of the Web. We believe this act of human collaboration across an open platform is essential to individual growth and our collective future. (this is the company blurb) (below is the job description) Mozilla IT is looking for a Manager to take responsibility of our global network. This encompasses all our Mozilla Spaces (aka offices), data centers, public clouds, and POPs. If you are a hands-on Manager with an acute attention to detail, passion for technology and experience leading a small distributed team of Network Engineers, we want to hear from you! Expectations: * Exceptional hands-on experience with Juniper routing and switching and proficient linux sysadmin skills. * Influential execution of the IT strategy and leadership of 4+ Senior-level Engineers. * Inspire high performance, stretch goals, coaching, and mentoring career growth. * Own a rolling 2-3 year Network roadmap and drive innovation. * Interface with key business clients and executive management to assess need and urgency. * Responsible for a IT network budget and manages our external partners and contracts. * Accurately diagnose production issues, create a corrective action plan, and determines solutions for long-term success. * Own network monitoring tools to provide real-time status and report metrics. * Actively help curate incident, change, and problem management processes; effectively represent Network concerns in these meetings. * Heavily engaged with Disaster Recovery assessment and planning. Required Skills: * Bachelors degree preferred * 7-10 years of demonstrated network engineering experience * 3-5 years of personnel management experience * Industry certifications, preferably JNCIS and JNCIP certifications, Service Provider and Enterprise routing and switching, or equivalent Cisco certs * Hands-on with firewalls, routing, switching (Juniper), routing protocols, IEEE 802.1(x) standards, VPNs, MPLS, load balancing, TCIP/IP, and circuits. * Strong knowledge of Linux distributions (preferably RHEL). * Impeccable communication skills and customer focus. * Successfully manage a globally distributed work-force. * Proficient issue/trend analysis, proactive problem avoidance, root cause analysis, performance and overall quality improvement and cost-savings. Additional Skills Strongly Desired: * Experience with cloud platforms - particularly Amazon Web Services * Experience with both open-source and 3rd party monitoring tools, scripting (python, javascript, bash), and web technologies (then I would have tear outs at the bottom with link to the Careers page)
Thanks. In terms of priorities, is the main thing you want them to see some general description like "Mozilla: Don't Work for the Man, Work for Mankind" or do you want to feature a specific job title as the headline (like "Mozilla: Now Hiring Software Engineers" or whatever). And how much of that should be editable? As in, what format do you need for the final deliverable? Is the job description in the above comment a typical length? Lastly, can you explain more how the tear-outs would work? Are they really necessary?
I think tear-outs would be "nice-to-have" but required. I'm guessing most will opt to snap a photo of it. If we did do a tear-out it would be Mozilla logo with the link the job title and URL. Again, not required. Hope that helps.
Hi guys-- Rhonda the designer here. :) To echo John's question, and to make sure this is editable by you once it is finished, I will need to know what software application you would like me to deliver the editable file to you in. The choices are: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, or Microsoft Word or PPT. If you can edit this in any of the Adobe products, we will have more flexibility with the layout. If we do the layout in Word or PPT, we will not have much flexibility and the layout will have to be very simple, but it will be easy for anyone to edit. Let me know, and thanks. :) --rhonda
Hi Rhonda, thank you for your help. I personally am most familiar using MS Word being not so technical and I think that might be easiest but I'm sure I can get illustrator pretty easily so I am flexible on what you think is best to use with the layout. thanks a lot! Shea
Hi Shea-- You will find a copy of the page layout for review here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36432639/FF_Careers_Template.pdf This is a PDF, but I created this in Word so that you will be able to edit it. A couple of notes: Because this was created in Word, which is not layout software, there are certain limitations to the layout and design, but also because it was created in Word, you will have little trouble updating it yourself. The margins on the side are from the limitations of the ability to place a "watermarked" image as a background image in Word. Also, because you will not be printing these professionally, but will be using an office printer or something similar, the white margins on the side are there because an office printer cannot go all the way to the edges when they print. The font is Open Sans family, which is the Mozilla Corporate font. You will note that there is no Firefox logo or Mozilla logo on the document, not sure if you need that there? Also, I took the upper photos, background and copy from the Careers web page "Listings" artwork so that it matches that. Please let me know if you would like any changes. Thanks! --rhonda
...and one last item: I added the Careers URL to the bottom of the page. This is just placeholder as I figured you would want an URL there for folks to visit. You will have to let me know what is the right URL to put there. --rhonda
Since this will be tacked up on a board with a bunch of other companies, having the Mozilla branding (the recognizable firefox logo) will definitely help it stand out more.
Thanks Rhonda! I like the nice, clean look of the layout here...also have a couple of suggestions: - since this is being printed on office printers, I'm concerned the photos may not look so great when printed. Could that area be a solid color background instead? Would also be a way to help the branding pop more. - would add the Mozilla wordmark in there for sure - wouldn't make Firefox part of the default visuals, since not all of these will be for Firefox positions (and Firefox is not the hiring organization), but it would be nice to leave room for the Firefox logo to be added if appropriate.
Thank you both!! I like it. Yes, maybe a Firefox logo could be worked in somewhere. Thanks for everyone's help and ideas on this.
Hey all-- Here is the adjusted layout as per John's comments: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36432639/FF_Careers_Template.pdf If this is approved let me know and I'll post the editable Word file too. :) --rhonda
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36432639/FF_Careers_Template.pdf Looks great! I agree with John's comment 12, would have been nice to have a logo but may not print well so this works. Thank you all.
Awesome. Thanks everyone. Ready to have these posted at the IT event in style!
Can we post all of our open IT positions there? I have 2 and albert has 4.
Hi Sylvie, I did post them all =)
(In reply to shea from comment #18) > Hi Sylvie, > > I did post them all =) where can I find them with this new template in PDF form?
Hi Everyone-- The new Word template for the Careers handout is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/36432639/Careers_handout.zip Let me know if you need anything else for this. :) --rhonda
Hi All, It looks like you are all set. I'm going to go ahead and resolve this bug. Please reopen if there is something else for this template that you need.
