use Helper applications for direct urls for all mime types

Details
When assigning a helper application to the mime type image/jpeg, along with the
extension .jpeg, mozilla continues to render images (with the proper image/jpeg
header) itself rather than calling the helper application.
um ... so what exactly do you want from mozilla?

I apologize for being unclear.
On Linux, configure a helper application to handle Mime Types of image/jpeg. In
my case, I am using gqview.
When clicking a link that is a jpeg image, or using the "View Image" context
menu, mozilla will render the image itself rather than using the helper
application that was assigned.
I hope this is more clear. See also Jamie Wilmoth's comments on bug #67549 for
another description of this problem.

ok, so i just registered lynx for text/html, and i clicked on a link in
mozilla. what should it do?
Summary: Helper applications for things normally handled natively → use Helper applications for direct urls for all mime types
